Baby Boomers Not Ready

This book was dedicated to Baby Boomers. I don't think that they are ready yet to acknowledge that they are approaching the age of 60, much less think about their mortality. Census numbers reveal that 6,000,000 Baby Boomers are already dead. They are not ready for this fact. This was an excellent book, but it has not opened up the conversation that it should have stimulated. [...]

Hansen and Linkletter are heroes!

As a senior myself, I was elated to find this book so practical and encouraging to anyone who does not see themselves as an "old fogey", ready to be shelved until the grim reaper comes along. Older adults have a wealth of experience, wisdom and knowledge to share and this culture has worshipped youth for far too long. The authors have coined a wonderful new word, "re-fire" as an excellent way of describing the process of finding a new path to the "Rest of Your Life!"
From finances to health and sex (yes sex!), the authors offer excellent advice and wonderful ideas for making the "Best of Your Life" meaningful, productive and thoroughly enjoyable. It should be required reading for anyone who wants to have an energetic, exciting and productive life after retirement age!

Oft-repeated, upbeat advice about dealing with aging

10 out of 13 customers found this reveiw helpful
There's nothing bad to say about this book. Everything in it has been said before by many other people in many places. The non-religious may be discomfited by this book's stress on religious and near-religious beliefs.
What's refreshing in its way is the upbeat attitudes of authors Linkletter and Hansen. Both men have had full, rewarding lives and large fortunes, which may affect their attitudes. Not all have been as fortunate as they.
Their advice, as noted, is nothing you won't find elsewhere. There are chapters on the "myths" of aging, taking care of your aging body, are you "sageing" or "aging", sex, spirituality, attitude, creativity and so on. Nothing that hasn't been covered someplace else. The book is up-to-date and "with it", so to speak: there's a section on web resources.
All told, there's nothing really bad to say about the book: it's the same advice you'll find in dozens of other places.
