I love to read just about anything. The only kind of book I cannot follow along with is one that has SO MUCH going on at once that my head spins. A few times in this book I had that feeling. But the overall feeling of satisfaction that comes from this book is worth it. IT is a touch unbelievable how everything just falls into place but God works in mysterious ways I guess. I would suggest t his book to anyone who needs a reminder of what a relationship is and the meaning of being `together'.

Many times when there are several different plots going on in one story, I lose my interest, possibly because it is too hard to keep track of it all. In A Time to Embrace, (Timeless Love Series) Karen Kingsbury has once again woven a beautiful story that I could barely put down.
In this realistic fiction story, Abbey and John are putting the pieces of their marriage back as John, also known as Coach Reynolds, the coach of the local high school is dealing with parents making false accusations, wanting his resignation. Late one night after finishing up work in his office, he is hit by a student who is racing with another, in order to settle an argument. Many different emotions are shared throughout A Time to Embrace, from Abby learning how to care for her husband who is wheelchair bound, to forgiving the student who hit him, and reconciliation with parents. Interwoven through the story is the surprise pregnancy of their oldest married daughter, and another son dealing with pornography.
Karen Kingsbury never leaves God out of her books, and once again, this is the hope and healing from Him that brings resolution. A Time to Embrace would be great to give to someone struggling in their faith, marriage, or a prodigal child. I highly recommend this book.

Take Time to Read A Time to Embrace

Summer is the time for reading, and I was ready with a stack of books to devour. On the top was a book I received as a complementary copy (in exchange for a free review) through BookSneeze called A Time to Embrace by Karen Kingsbury. I enjoy this author quite a bit, and this story did not disappoint me. It is the sequel to A Time to Dance, which I read sometime last year, and I would recommend reading both. You would appreciate the sequel more if you do (but it's not necessary).
A Time to Embrace deals with the tragedy and trials that can assault a marriage. John and Abby have been married for more than twenty years and are enjoying a newness in their relationship after a long dry spell. While there are struggles in John's job, they are simply drawing closer together and appreciating the gift of marriage. The real test comes when he is critically injured in a car accident. The dialogue is good, the plot is decent and the celebration of marriage is terrific. It's good vacation reading.

Their marriage has only recently survived a near-divorce. John and Abby are reveling in the miracle that God performed in their marriage when things grow difficult in other areas of their lives. John's career as the head coach for the high school appears to be at an end. As he and Abby struggle to find answers to what will come next, tragedy strikes.
An accident in the middle of the night brings physical devastation to their lives. Will they be able to move forward in their lives, forgive and bring healing to others around them, or will guilt and regret overpower the miracles they know God can do?
My Thoughts
I have always loved Karen Kingsbury's books and somehow missed the Timeless Love series. Even though I didn't read the book prior to this one, A Time to Dance, I was able to pick up the storyline without any problem. This particular story is one filled with grace, forgiveness and the power of faith ~ I loved it!
The Timeless Love series have recently been re-released with new covers {very nice, I might add} along with an update from Karen in the back as to where the characters in the story are today ~ always fun to see how she envisions them a few years down the road! :) The book also includes a reading group guide.

Good but predictable read

A Time To Embrace by Karen Kingsbury was a very enjoyable book.
It tells the story of a love renewed after a once wonderful marriage hits a rocky spot. While the couple, Couch Reynolds and his wife Abby, are rediscovering their love for eachother a series of tragic events happen to their family.
While I did enjoy this book, and while I love hearing about God's grace and plans for us I found the story of the book a little bit over the top. I just couldn't imagine something like all the tragedy this family was experiencing (and how it all occurs) playing out so perfectly.
I would recommend it to someone to read.
