I'm late to the review process but I am a WEBG Hound. I have found the Honor Bound Series to be his absolute best work! I started reading Griffin in the early 80's with the Brotherhood of War series and just like that set, I could not put this one down. It was full of the classical Griffin mixture of Historical events and flamboyant warriors of bygone era; the secretive aliances and the wonderful themes of good trimuphing always over eveil is pure Giffin. C. Frayde is a classical champion whose only flaw is that he is always correct and too perfect. Sadly this is always a Griffin trademark but that is why we truely enjoy his work; it keeps us on the edge of our seat; waiting for his next novel in the series where we then skip the first 150 pages and get to the new story line....Still who doesn't love a great story. And with WEB Griffin you can't loose. Read it and be completely entertained.

Incredibly boring book. Lots of talk, and zero action. Frade flys here, he flys there but ctually does nothing except talk, show how insolent he is to senior officers(shades of Bernard Cornwell's excellent "Sharpe" series)does nothing himself and repeats the same mantra over and over until the author has wasted 470 pages of good,acid-free paper. There is no climax at the end and he leaves all the characters in the lurch. No wonder it was selling for $5.99 as a remainder hard-cover at Borders!!

Griffin has written a half dozen series and other than the Marines in WWII this is my favorite. Spending most of the time in Argentina and Washington during WWII. It gives a perspective of WWII that is different from all other WWII historical novels. As usual the hero is young, rich, smart and gives his bosses a hard time. I have set aside all of the books in this series and I will re read them in about five years as they are so good.

Serious consistency issues

This book is by far the worst in the series, "Honor Bound". There are consistency problems where they have the wrong ship named as the one blown up, use the wrong name of the president, etc. This is the second series I have read of Griffin and each time his son starts writing with him, the quality declines.
That being said, I enjoy the story and the characters. I would enjoy them more if the typos and errors were not there. The next book in the series is much better in this regard, but it does seem that they try to pack in too many characters that you almost feel like you are missing the depth Griffin gets in the early books. I wish he would focus on the characters already in play versus adding so many new ones.
