Product Description
Though pain affects millions of people daily, it is one of the most mysterious and hard-to-treat conditions. Pain can have many causes, is experienced subjectively in varieties of different ways, and often defies the most advanced treatments available to modern medicine. Yet physicians such as Daniel J. Benor, as well as hundreds of other doctors and complementary therapists worldwide, are developing simple and safe ways to treat pain naturally. They have discovered that addressing underlying emotional traumas often leads to the rapid and permanent alleviation of pain. When emotional pain is cleared, physical pain often dissipates too.

WHEE is one in a new group of therapies called Energy Psychology. WHEE changes a person's bio-electromagnetic energy system and consciousness - and facilitates the healing of physical problems. In the same way that changing the position of two magnets makes the iron filings between them shift, the bio-energy field changes produced by WHEE often result in rapid and painless healing on all levels of a person's being.

Intriguing and Effective

In recent years many of us have become frustrated with the limitations of conventional physical and psychotherapies, and also of many unorthodox treatment modalities like acupuncture, homeopath and the "energy therapies" that often require a great deal of time and so can only be offered to small numbers of people. In response to these limitations several of us - working independently - have developed rapid methods that combine elements of several different techniques.

Dan Benor is one of the most original thinkers in holistic medicine. Starting out as a skeptical psychiatrist, he was intrigued and amazed by an apparently miraculous healing of someone who could not be helped by conventional medicine. He went on to analyze all the published research on healing, which he published in a series of books available at Amazon. (e.g. Spiritual Healing: Professional Supplement (Healing Research); Consciousness, Bioenergy and Healing: Self-Healing and Energy Medicine for the 21st Century (Healing Research, Vol. 2; Professional Edition); How Can I Heal What Hurts? (Healing Research, Vol. 2; Popular Edition) (Healing Research (Paperback)) (v. 2); Personal Spirituality). He also did research on healing during a period of several years when he lived in England.

He has now come up with a rapid technique for helping both physical and psychological pain that he calls "WHEE," a combination of aspects of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). WHEE stands for "Wholistic Hybrid derived from EFT and EMDR" or the rather more mellifluous "Whole Health - Easily and Effectively."

In this book Dan provides a comprehensive description of how to use his techniques to help you to deal with both physical and psychological pain. His methods involve first describing the quality and intensity of a pain, then identifying psychological issues that contribute to the pain, and then alternately tapping specific points on each side of the body while using affirmations and positive replacement statements. It may sound weird and hard to understand why it should work, but it certainly seems to be effective in many people. Dan proposes a theoretical model to explain WHEE, and I am not sure that I completely agree with him, but that is fine: it is always important to disentangle the empirical - "Does it work?" - from the mechanistic - "How does it work" - and any decent hypothesis is a good starting point for further research.

So will WHEE help you? That is difficult to say. Dan reports astonishingly good results, and there have been some research studies that seem to support him, though I am not aware of any that have yet been peer-reviewed. On the other hand, I have met Dan and he is a natural healer, so he is likely to get particularly good results from any technique. However, I am one of many therapists around the world who have tried WHEE with some very good results.

Nobody wants to sell false hope to people who are suffering, but if you are living with pain or if you are involved in helping others, you may gain a great deal by trying the methods detailed in this book. There is quite enough specific information to be able to get started straight away.

Apart from the detailed techniques, this is a very well written book that includes a great many well-chosen quotations, making this a delightful reading experience.

Very highly recommended.

The irrefutable link that exists between mind and body is beautifully demonstrated in this book. Yet, it is the simplicity of the technique of WHEE and its results that are so impressive. If we understand that we are highly conditioned beings who "react" (unconscious behavior) more often than "respond" (conscious choice-making) - then the logic of WHEE and why it works so well, becomes apparent. Activating both sides of the brain through tapping, introduces new pathways of response which then includes the left brain's objective and reasoning ability. This book is an amazing tool for physical and emotional pain management.

"Seven Minutes to Natural Pain Release" by Daniel J. Benor, M.D., details the self-healing method of WHEE. The author himself developed this method combining elements from both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique.) Dr. Benor calls his method "the Wholistic Hybrid derived from EMDR and EFT, or WHEE. A more user-friendly name is Whole Health - Easily and Effectively." (p.17) By combining the two other methods, Benor has developed an approach that is simple, effective, and takes little time.

"Seven Minutes to Natural Pain Release" begins with an introduction on the basic aspects of the WHEE approach. Then, Dr. Benor presents information allowing us to better understand pain, and addresses the psychological factors involved in pain. After establishing this basic foundation, he goes on to elaborate on the WHEE method in detail, including a section on theories to explain why WHEE is effective.

I don't want to go into detail as to what the WHEE method actually entails as I don't want to take away from the premise of the book. I will, however, say that the approach is extremely simple and pretty much anyone would be able to perform it. It is also safe and you can do it on yourself at home. Pain relief doesn't get much better than that!

The case studies presented in the book representing the effectiveness of the method are truly remarkable. For instance, "In a WHEE workshop in Mexico, a woman asked for help with her arthritis. Her hands were so affected that she had not been able to bend any of her fingers for many months. We did an experiment, having her focus the WHEE on her right index finger. Within minutes, she was able to bend that finger but not any of the others." (p.27) One of my grandmothers has arthritis and I think that by using the techniques in this book she may find some relief.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the WHEE approach to me is that the time involved in the process is so minimal. As you can see from the story about the woman in Mexico, the results are almost instantaneous.

I recommend this book to anyone dealing with any pain, or to those that know of someone dealing with pain. You definitely don't have anything to lose by giving this fascinatingly simple method a try! I believe that the WHEE approach is a major medical breakthrough that will benefit many, many people.

Having suffered from Fibromyalgia for over a decade, I've come to realize that contemporary medicine tends to focus specially on symptom relief. Have a headache, take a pill type mentality. Instant gratification. It's wonderful, when it works but when it doesn't this type of thinking really leaves the sufferer with few alternatives.

Alternative medicine tends to focus on the root cause of any health condition. It makes sense, you can take a pill to get rid of your headache but until you actually fix the problem that caused the headache in the first place, you'll find that you'll keep getting headaches. Essentially, find out why you had the headache in the first place, fix that, and the pain will be gone permanently.

The therapy set out in Seven Minutes to Natural Pain Release combines two very important processes. First, there is the tapping which serves as a physical way of reminding ourselves to make healthier decisions. This method is commonly used to reduce stress, increase focus, or to quit smoking. In and of itself, it can be a powerful tool for replacing unhealthy habits.

Then, there is belief work which focuses on understanding the unconscious beliefs that we hold about a given situation, releasing the unhealthy notion, and replacing the old belief with a healthier option. This is the part of the process that makes the results happen so quickly. So often, it is our negative thinking or our unconscious blockages that hold us back. This concept is easily translated to chronic pain.
